Frequently Asked Questions
Ordering & Age Verification
Do I need to verify my age to buy?
Yes. Tobacco products are age-restricted in the UK, and you must be 18 or over to purchase from Blackpool Cigars.
We use age-verification checks during the ordering process and, where required, proof of age may also be requested when your order is delivered.
Can I order cigars as a gift?
Yes. Our gift boxes and starter packs make excellent gifts for birthdays, anniversaries and other special occasions.
Please remember that the recipient must also be 18 or over.
Cigars & Products
What’s the difference between Cuban and New World cigars?
Cuban cigars are grown and hand-rolled in Cuba using long-established tobacco-growing and cigar-making traditions. They are renowned worldwide and are often considered a benchmark for premium cigars.
New World cigars are produced in countries including Nicaragua, Honduras and the Dominican Republic. They offer a huge variety of flavours, strengths and styles, often across a wider range of price points.
I’m new to cigars — where should I start?
If you’re just getting started, we recommend browsing our Cigars Under £15 collection or our Gift Boxes & Starter Packs.
Milder or shorter cigars can be a good introduction if you are still discovering your preferences.
If you would like some help choosing, please feel free to contact us and we’ll be happy to offer a personal recommendation.
What is the English Market Selection (EMS)?
English Market Selection, or EMS, is a designation associated with Cuban cigars selected for sale within the UK market.
EMS cigars are sourced through the official UK distribution channel and are subject to quality-control standards before reaching retailers.
Storage & Humidity
How should I store my cigars?
For best results, cigars should be stored at approximately 65–70% relative humidity and a temperature of around 16–18°C.
A good-quality humidor provides the most reliable way to maintain stable storage conditions. We stock a selection of cigar humidors and Boveda humidity packs to help keep your cigars in good condition.
How long can I store cigars?
When stored correctly, premium cigars can be kept for many years, and some may develop further in character as they age.
The most important factor is maintaining consistent humidity and temperature. Avoid large or frequent fluctuations wherever possible.
My cigars arrived and feel dry — what should I do?
Place the cigars in a properly maintained humidor or a sealed container with a suitable Boveda humidity pack and allow them to re-humidify gradually.
This can take one to two weeks or longer, depending on their condition. Avoid trying to re-humidify cigars too quickly.
If you have any concerns about the condition of your order when it arrives, please contact us and we’ll be happy to help.

We ship throughout the UK.
Depending on the product and destination, we may also be able to ship to selected international locations. Please contact us before ordering if you have a question about delivery to a particular country or territory.
