Explore Kavalan Lán Taiwanese (Taiwan, Province of China) single malt whisky with this 30ml sample. Floral aromas, creamy vanilla and caramelised fruit make this an expressive introduction to the Yilan distillery’s style, without committing to a full bottle.
Named in tribute to Yilan, with Lán also meaning “orchid” in Mandarin, this expression brings together bourbon barrels, port casks and STR wine casks. The shaving, toasting and recharring of the wine casks adds a layer of caramelised fruity sweetness alongside nutty and floral notes.
Tasting notes
Nose: Orchid, rose, jasmine and orange blossom, followed by creamy vanilla, chocolate, caramel and honeydew melon.
Palate: Fresh floral and fruity flavours with a creamy texture and chocolate notes.
Finish: Lingering nutty oak and gentle cinnamon spice.
