La Invicta Nicaraguan Panatela Cigar
La Invicta Nicaraguan Panatela Cigar
About the Cigar
The La Invicta Nicaraguan Panatela is a handmade, long-filler cigar from the Nicaraguan line of the historic La Invicta brand — created in the 1940s by Hunters & Frankau, known as "The Undefeated". Produced at the Plasencia factory in Nicaragua, it draws on premium tobaccos from the Estelí, Jalapa, and Condega regions, with a Nicaraguan wrapper, binder, and filler throughout.
This slim Panatela vitola delivers a classic Nicaraguan profile in a quick, convenient format — offering fuller flavour than the brand's Honduran counterpart, with a pleasing hint of sweetness and spice. An excellent entry point into Nicaraguan cigars for newcomers and seasoned smokers alike.

Tasting Notes
A pleasant, medium-bodied smoke with good smoke production for its slim size.
- First third: Rich nutty and cedar notes from the off.
- Mid-palate: Dark chocolate and cocoa tones develop nicely.
- Final third: A building pepper spice comes through, balanced by a subtle sweetness and classic Nicaraguan earthiness.
Not overly complex, but a thoroughly solid and enjoyable smoke — exactly what you want from a reliable Nicaraguan.
Construction & Smoking Notes
- Draw is easy to moderate — can be slightly tight on the odd stick initially.
- Generally burns evenly throughout.
- Best stored at around 65% relative humidity; higher humidity can mute the flavours.
- Burns relatively quickly if puffed aggressively — take your time with it.
- Consistently well-regarded for the price; a favourite "midweek" or quick smoke amongst reviewers.

Bourbon Pairing

The chocolate, cedar, subtle sweetness, and building spice of this medium-strength cigar pair beautifully with bourbons offering vanilla, caramel, oak, and complementary spice. Steer clear of very delicate or high-proof expressions that might overpower the slim format.
- Woodford Reserve — Our top recommendation. Vanilla, caramel, toasted oak, and gentle spice harmonise perfectly with the cigar's chocolate and cedar character, while keeping the pepper in check. A classic pairing that flatters both.
